The end of the 90's and the beginning of the 00's was a special wave of new films that I believe have a feel that hasn't been matched since. So many classic chick flicks and teen movies definitely go underrated, so I have compiled a list for all those wanting a movie day with a touch of nostalgia or a way to educate those young siblings of ours that just need to experience the magic!
1. Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses
Let's be honest, if you don't have a favourite barbie film you've missed out on the best era of childhood there is! For me, this one was unbeatable. It has the magic, the music, dresses in every colour, sense of family comfort and animals too. The fact that every princess sister had their own personality/ hobby to make them stand out used to make me so happy, celebrating uniqueness for the very beginning! There is so many to choose from but another two honourable mentions would have to be; 'Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus' and 'Barbie as 'Rapunzel'. If you haven't watched these iconic Barbie films you should find the excuse of any younger sibling, niece, nephew or cousin and watch them all ASAP!
2. Cheaper by the Dozen
Another fundamental film of the 00's. The Baker family with their comically large family hits base on important topics in light-hearted ways and never fails to make me laugh. A true classic. Some big names and familiar faces in there too. Cheaper by the dozen is also one of the few films where the sequel is equally as good as the first. (If not better!)

3. Life Size
Many people would argue that 'Parent Trap' is Lindsay Lohan's best work out of the list of films from her early career, I however, would defend 'Life-size' as a much more iconic film. The concept, costume, execution are all flawless and true 00's perfection. Who didn't want their doll to come to life when they were younger? This film can honestly make me laugh and cry only moments apart and will forever be a guilty pleasure.

4. Daddy Day care
Full family friendly classic. Eddie as always has everyone laughing from beginning to end. The aesthetic of this film is so nostalgic of my childhood I can't avoid warm feeling whenever it starts. And it goes without saying the tunes in this film are a huge part of its impact. It goes without saying that me and my older sister will forever think of the lime in the coconut song whenever this film is brought up!

5. Wild child
In my opinion, it gets to a certain point in life when you just physically cant watch mean girls for the 700th time and that is when you know it's time to crack out this ICONIC film. The character development from start to finish in this film is astonishing and can never get old and let's not pretend we weren't all madly in love with Freddie. I can honestly say that I don't think I will ever get over moaning myrtle talking in a Scottish accent or the montage of charity shop outfits that ends up in , Lets be real, the worst ones being the final cut. All round unbeatable childhood memories.

6. A Cinderella story
A Cinderella story has such a great cast and gave Lizzie Mcguire fans a whole deeper love for Hilary Duff. A modernised fairy tale has never been done as well as this classic and arguably never will be. Plus, I think this film may have been my inspiration for 11 year old me to get pink high-top converse that were then worn till they fell apart.

7. Hannah Montana: The Movie
How a wig and a change of clothes could ever fool the world we may never believe but it cannot be doubted that the Hannah Montana phenomenon was one of Disney's largest and certainly was my first fangirl encounter. Hannah Montana the series ending was just not enough and the film definitely filled that void and had new songs to bop to, which is never a bad thing. I would be lying if I said I didn't still know the words to this album and I'm not ashamed!

8. 13 going on 30
Probably a film for the slightly older ones, but for me growing up this film was one of my all time favourites. As someone interested in fashion and writing, her magazine editor role and wardrobe excitement was such a relatable thing for young me. And once topped off with the attitude of someone your own age the film was truly magical. Unarguably one to be watched over and over. Also young Jenna ( Christina Allen) recreated her iconic scene on TikTok and so the obsession is reborn. Great casting at its finest.

9. Confessions of a teenage drama queen
Often forgotten about and always under-rated 'confessions of a teenage drama queen' is the epitome of 00' film. The scrapbook styles segues and diary style voice overs are all things of the era and the more gown up Lindsay is perfect for the rock role. Also who doesn't love a bit of drama?

10. She's the Man
Amanda Bynes. Channing Tatum. That alone is enough to make you want to watch it surely. 'She's the man' has chaotic energy which is matched by the cheesy acting of the early 2000's. What many people don't know about this movie is a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare's play 'Twelfth Night'. A girl pretending to be her brother falls in love with a boy. Amazing Shakespeare with a modern twist!

I hope you guys enjoyed this List of 10 of some of my most nostalgic and iconic childhood films! Get watching and it'll be like 2010 all over again ;)
